I am honored to write this letter of recommendation for my friend and broadcast partner, Jake Chau. Having worked alongside Jake for the last three years, I have witnessed first hand his exceptional work ethic, creative mind, and unwavering professionalism—qualities that set him apart in the high school broadcasting industry. Jake approaches every project with a level of dedication and passion that is truly inspiring. He consistently goes above and beyond to ensure GVTV’s live broadcasts, news stories, and social media are engaging, well-executed, and polished. Whether it’s meticulous preparation before going on air, adapting quickly to unexpected challenges, or delivering insightful commentary, Jake’s commitment to excellence is evident in everything he does. Beyond his technical skills, Jake is an incredibly creative thinker. He brings fresh ideas to every production, whether that’s new graphics, or a different camera angle. He constantly finds innovative ways to enhance the viewer’s experience. Above all, Jake’s professionalism is second to none. He understands the importance of teamwork, communication, and reliability. He carries himself with integrity and always upholds the highest standards, whether he’s behind the microphone or collaborating with others behind the scenes. His positive attitude and ability to try new things and connect with audiences make him not just a great broadcaster, but also a great peer. I wholeheartedly recommend Jake Chau for any opportunity, whether that’s behind the microphone or the camera. He is an exceptional talent and a true professional who will undoubtedly make a meaningful impact wherever he goes.

Mac Shaver (Arapahoe Sports Network Director/Founder 2021-2025; Colorado HS Broadcast Journalist of the Year)

As not only an editor alongside Jake but as a staffer below him before my promotion, I have seen him grow and flourish as a reporter and writer. If there is any interesting event outside of school, you would likely see Jake there reporting on it. I even remember a time when our school had an unplanned fire drill while Jake and I were in the same class, and as I was walking out of school not 15 seconds after the alarm had started ringing, I saw Jake getting footage and reporting on the incident immediately. He truly has a passion for reporting information and interesting stories. As far as the writing side goes, Jake is the best of us. His video voiceovers are amazing, his storytelling and planning are excellent, and I even just saw an article that he wrote in our school newspaper right before I sat down to type this (Jake is unaffiliated with the Newspaper). Jake is the absolute best of us and the program would not be where it is today without him. I can also comfortably say that I would not be where I am today without his influence either.
